Festive Season Tailoring Tips for Gurgaon Women 2026 — Navratri, Dussehra & Diwali

The festive season is in full swing. Navratri is underway, Dussehra is on 2 October, and Diwali is on 20 October. If you want custom-tailored outfits for any of these festivals, the time to book is right now.

This guide covers outfit ideas for each festival, the right fabrics to choose, and the booking deadlines you need to know to get your garments delivered in time.

Dussehra Outfit Ideas — 2 October

Dussehra is a formal festive occasion — most women wear sarees or salwar kameez sets. Here are the most popular choices:

Saree with a new blouse

The classic Dussehra look. If you have a saree you love but the blouse no longer fits or looks dated, a new blouse can transform the entire outfit. A plain blouse can be tailored in 1–2 days; a designer blouse in 3–4 days.

Silk salwar kameez

A silk or semi-silk salwar kameez in festive colours — red, orange, yellow, green — is a comfortable and elegant choice for Dussehra. If you have fabric, we can stitch a plain suit in 2–3 days.

Anarkali suit

An Anarkali suit in georgette or chiffon is a popular festive choice that works for both Dussehra and Diwali. Turnaround: 4–6 days.

Karva Chauth Outfit Ideas — 10 October

Karva Chauth is one of the most important occasions for married women in North India. The traditional colour is red, though many women now choose pink, maroon, or deep orange.

Lehenga

A lehenga is the most popular Karva Chauth outfit. For a Karva Chauth lehenga to be ready by 10 October, you need to book by 3 October.

Saree with designer blouse

A silk or georgette saree with a specially tailored designer blouse is a timeless Karva Chauth look. Book the blouse by 3 October for guaranteed delivery.

Diwali Outfit Ideas — 20 October

Diwali is the biggest festive occasion of the year. Here are the most popular tailoring requests for Diwali 2026:

1. Anarkali suit in silk or brocade

A floor-length Anarkali in silk or brocade is the quintessential Diwali outfit. Rich colours — deep red, royal blue, emerald green, gold — work beautifully for Diwali puja and family gatherings.

Book by: 5 October | Turnaround: 10–14 days

2. Lehenga in festive fabric

A lehenga in velvet, brocade or heavy silk is a popular Diwali choice for women who want a more formal look. Velvet lehengas in jewel tones are particularly trending for Diwali 2026.

Book by: 5 October | Turnaround: 10–14 days

3. Saree blouse in gold or embroidered fabric

If you have a Diwali saree already, a new blouse in gold brocade, embroidered fabric or a contrasting colour can completely refresh the look.

Book by: 10 October | Turnaround: 3–7 days

4. Indo-western outfit

A cape blouse with a lehenga skirt, or a dhoti pant with an embroidered kurti, is a popular contemporary Diwali look. These require more construction time than a standard suit.

Book by: 5 October | Turnaround: 10–14 days

Festive Season Tailoring Tips

1. Book early — every year the same thing happens

Every year, we receive calls in the week before Diwali from women who have left their tailoring too late. We hate saying no. Book now — even if your outfit is not fully planned yet. Securing a slot is more important than having every detail finalised.

2. Bring your reference images

Save 5–10 photos of the style, neckline, sleeve and colour you want. The clearer your brief, the faster the consultation and the better the result.

3. Prioritise fit over design

A simple outfit that fits perfectly looks better than an elaborate outfit that does not. If you are short on time, choose a simpler design that can be tailored and fitted quickly.

4. Plan your accessories before your tailoring appointment

Bring your jewellery, dupatta and shoes to your fitting. The hem length, neckline depth and sleeve length all look different when you are fully accessorised.

5. Confirm your delivery date in writing

Always get a confirmed delivery date — not a vague estimate. At Dune Aura Boutique, we give every client a written delivery date and we honour it.
