The Complete Bridal Trousseau Checklist for a Gurugram Bride — 2026 Edition

Planning a wedding in Gurugram is an exciting but overwhelming experience. The bridal trousseau — the collection of outfits a bride prepares for her wedding and the months that follow — requires careful planning, especially if you want custom-tailored garments. After helping hundreds of Gurugram brides plan their trousseau over 20+ years, here is my complete checklist for 2026.

The Core Bridal Trousseau — What Every Bride Needs

1. The Main Bridal Lehenga (Wedding Ceremony)

This is the most important outfit in your trousseau. It should be booked at least 3–4 months before the wedding to allow time for fabric selection, tailoring, fittings, and any adjustments. Do not leave this to the last minute.

Timeline: Book 3–4 months before wedding

Fittings required: 2–3 fittings minimum

2. Reception Outfit

The reception outfit is typically lighter and more contemporary than the bridal lehenga. Many brides choose a tissue silk lehenga, a heavily embroidered saree, or an indo-western gown for the reception.

Timeline: Book 2–3 months before wedding

3. Mehendi Outfit

The mehendi outfit is traditionally yellow or green and is usually lighter and more comfortable than the wedding day outfits. A sharara suit or a simple lehenga works beautifully for mehendi.

Timeline: Book 2 months before wedding

4. Sangeet Outfit

The sangeet outfit should be comfortable enough to dance in but glamorous enough for photographs. An indo-western cape lehenga or a heavily embroidered Anarkali are popular choices.

Timeline: Book 2 months before wedding

5. Haldi Outfit

The haldi outfit will get stained with turmeric, so choose something you are comfortable sacrificing. A simple yellow or white cotton suit works perfectly.

6. Bridal Blouses (Multiple)

Every saree and lehenga in your trousseau needs a perfectly fitted blouse. Plan for at least 4–6 blouses — one for each main outfit plus 2–3 for sarees you will wear in the months after the wedding.

7. Post-Wedding Sarees and Suits

Plan for 5–8 sarees and 3–5 suits for the post-wedding visits and celebrations. These can be tailored closer to the wedding date.
